Solar Power Colorado 2015 Announces New Speakers

In addition to an all-star roster of solar energy experts, Solar Power Colorado 2015 will feature prominent speakers from other fields to provide fresh perspectives on the solar industry when the conference opens in less than two weeks.

The annual conference of the Colorado Solar Energy Industries Association, Solar Power Colorado’s  theme this year is “Solar Energy: the Next 25 Years” as COSEIA looks to the future while celebrating its quarter- century history. kimjordanKim Jordan,  CEO and Co-Founder of New Belgium Brewing, will give an opening keynote speech on the morning of Feb. 24. Jordan’s  lifelong commitment to developing healthy communities has informed New Belgium’s culture through progressive policies like employee ownership, open-book management, and philanthropic giving. New Belgium’s 200 kW solar photovoltaic array was  commissioned in 2010 and the company is renowned for its sustainability practices.

Ms. Jordan is expected to focus her remarks on the  intersection of environment and business.

Mark Udall will speak at the opening VIP Reception Monday. The former U.S. Senator will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from COSEIA for his leadership on renewable energy, including helping to spearhead the campaign for Amendment 37, Colorado’s Renewable Energy Standard.

At the Wednesday awards ceremony and luncheon, John Perlin is the featured speaker.  The author of four books on  solar energy and forestry, he  has put together major exhibits on these subjects that have traveled throughout the world. His current book is “Let It Shine: The 6,000 Year Story of Solar Energy.”  Perlin works at the University of California, Santa Barbara, in the  Department of Physics and Student Affairs.

At the opening general sessions as well as breakout panels featuring pressing issues before the solar industry, experts from around the nation will speak and interact with the audience. A complete list of speakers is available on the conference website here.

The conference also includes an Expo Hall with dozens of companies showcasing the latest solar technologies and services. A variety of training sessions eligible for continuing education credits are also scheduled.
